UT-Austin Education Program
Advanced Institute for Transportation Infrastructure Engineering and Management
The Advanced Institute for Transportation Infrastructure Engineering and Management was established at the University of Texas with funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation to create a center for excellence in the preparation of the Nation's future professional leaders in the transportation sector. Full and partial fellowships, ranging from $1,000-12,000 per year are available through the Institute for qualified U.S. citizens and permanent residents committed to a career in transportation. Partial fellowships of $3,000 to $5,000 may be added to a research assistantship to provide a very attractive package for outstanding prospects. In addition, Institute fellows receive full tuition payment and travel support to attend technical and professional conferences. Masters' candidates are the primary target of this program, with limited partial fellowships available for doctoral candidates, as well as selected undergraduate opportunity fellowships.

Undergraduate Summer Internship in Transportation (USIT)
This 11-week program provides students with a unique insight into transportation engineering education and a possible career in the field. Students participating in this program will gain firsthand experience in conducting transportation studies and to actively participate in transportation research with graduate students under the supervision of the Transportation faculty. Over the course of the 11-week program there will be weekly lectures on a wide range of topics on transportation engineering given by distinguished academics and practicing engineers. This internship is intended to be a demanding as well as rewarding experience. Interns will be assigned to one, in some cases two, ongoing transportation engineering research projects and are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week on that project. Interns who are not current UT students will each receive a Fellowship of $3,600 over the 11-week period of the program. UT student interns will each received a Fellowship of $2,700. See USIT program for more information and application forms.
